Herring Pond Wampanoag Tribal Cultural Council Announces FY25 Grant Recipients
The Herring Pond Wampanoag Tribal Cultural Council (HPWTCC) is proud to announce its FY25 Mass Cultural Council’s Tribe Cultural Council Grant Recipients, marking the council’s inaugural year of funding community-based projects in the arts, sciences, and humanities. This year, 8 grants totaling $9,470 were awarded to projects that align with the council’s priorities of preserving Wampanoag Traditions, promoting community engagement, and fostering intergenerational connections.
This year’s grant recipients and projects include:
Quincy Harding: Empowering Youth Through Art: Wampanoag Youth Council Logo & T-Shirt Design – $800
Jill Lauzon: Herring Pond Landscape Workshop – $720
Anita Peters: Regalia Workshop – $2,000
Pinewoods Camp, Inc.: Herring Pond Wampanoag Coloring Books for Kids and Nature Nook – $800
Pinewoods Camp, Inc.: Wampanoag Nation Singers and Dancers – Pilot Program – $800
Save the Pine Barrens, Inc.: Engaging Cedarville Community Voices – $850
Song Keepers, Ltd.: The HARBOR SESSIONS – $1,500
Wampanoag Nation Singers and Dancers Inc.: We Are the Land – $2,000
FY25 Allocation and Program Guidelines
The council received an allocation of $17,325 for FY25, demonstrating a significant investment in cultural preservation and community enrichment. Projects are evaluated based on their alignment with tribal priorities, support from the tribal community, and ability to involve tribal citizens in protecting and practicing traditional activities.
Grant recipients are funded through a Direct Grant process, ensuring timely support for their initiatives.
